A ‘Stop Work Order’ remains in effect for the Great Han Residential Development located on Princess Road. The Department of Environment has raised this issue, indicating that they were informed on September 5, 2024, about the Suva City Council’s decision to lift the ‘Order’ on the development.

In response, the Department of Environment initiated its investigation and engaged with the relevant parties to assess whether the lifting of the stop work order was consistent with their policies. It was determined that Great Han had not adhered to the Suva City Council’s decision to uplift the order, which specified that work could only continue if the requirements set by the Department of Environment were satisfied, as outlined in their earlier decline decision.

Consequently, the Department took necessary measures and imposed a stop work order on September 24, citing Section 43 of the Environment Management Act 2005.
