The reconstruction of the Great Council of Chiefs (GCC) complex, known as Vale ni Bose, is progressing well. The iTaukei Trust Fund Board announced that the first phase of the renovation has been completed and work on phase two has commenced.
The board stated that practical completion is expected by mid-2025, with all construction activities meticulously planned to adhere to schedules while prioritizing quality and safety. The project team is dedicated to executing phase two effectively, ensuring timely achievement of each milestone.
Coordination among contractors, architects, and stakeholders has been efficient, with regular updates and progress assessments to keep the project on course. The previous GCC complex was destroyed by fire in 2020, and an insurance claim of $6 million has been settled for the reconstruction.
Phase two aims to improve both the functionality and design of the facility to meet its intended use. The board expressed confidence that the timely completion of this project will enhance the venue, adding significant value for the Great Council of Chiefs meetings and its future users. Construction will be led by Pacific Building Solutions.
