The reconstruction of the Great Council of Chiefs (GCC) Vale ni Bose complex is progressing well. The iTaukei Trust Fund Board announced that phase one of the project has been completed, with phase two now underway.

The board noted that practical completion is expected by mid-2025, with all construction activities planned to meet deadlines while ensuring high quality and safety standards are observed. The project team is dedicated to efficiently executing phase two and achieving each milestone as per schedule.

The coordination among contractors, architects, and stakeholders has been smooth, with consistent updates and progress checks to keep the project on track. The previous GCC complex was destroyed by a fire in 2020, and an insurance claim of $6 million has been approved for its reconstruction.

Phase two aims to improve the facility’s functionality and design, aligning it with its intended purpose. The board expressed confidence that the project’s timely completion will enhance the space’s offerings, benefiting not only the meetings of the Great Council of Chiefs but also its future users. Pacific Building Solutions is responsible for leading the construction efforts.
