The reconstruction of the Great Council of Chiefs (GCC) Vale ni Bose complex is progressing well. The iTaukei Trust Fund Board announced that the first phase of the project has been completed, with phase two beginning shortly.
The board stated that practical completion is expected by mid-2025, and all construction efforts have been meticulously planned to meet deadlines while ensuring high quality and safety standards. The project team is dedicated to executing phase two efficiently, with a focus on achieving milestones as scheduled.
Coordination among contractors, architects, and stakeholders has been effective, with regular updates and progress checks in place to keep the project on track. The original GCC complex was destroyed by a fire in 2020, and an insurance claim of $6 million has been secured for the reconstruction.
Phase two aims to improve the facility’s functionality and design to better serve its intended purpose. The project team is optimistic that the timely completion will enhance the offerings of the space, benefiting not only the Great Council of Chiefs’ meetings but also future users. Pacific Building Solutions is overseeing the construction efforts.
