Grants Under Scrutiny: Pacific Polytech’s Clean Audits Revealed

Pacific Polytech is required to provide accountability for all government grants used by the institution, and recent audits show that their accounts are clean, posing no cause for concern, according to the Minister for Education Aseri Radrodro, who addressed Parliament.

In response to a written inquiry regarding the evaluation of the initial $2 million grant awarded to Pacific Polytech, Mr. Radrodro explained that, as a standard protocol, all institutions under the Higher Education Commission of Fiji (HECF) must submit spending reports for the quarterly grant amounts received. Only after HECF is satisfied with the submitted reports does it authorize the release of funds for the following quarter.

Mr. Radrodro emphasized that submitting audited financial statements is a mandatory requirement for these institutions. He confirmed that Pacific Polytech has submitted all the necessary audits for the years it has received government grants, all of which are clean and do not raise any concerns.

Additionally, he noted that the HECF actively monitors programs funded by government grants and that no institution can offer unapproved programs. All award programs at Pacific Polytech have undergone rigorous scrutiny and have been properly approved by the Higher Education Commission of Fiji.
