Grants and Audits: Pacific Polytech’s Clean Bill of Health

Pacific Polytech is obligated to provide detailed reports for all government grants utilized by the institution, and audits conducted thus far indicate no issues, according to Education Minister Aseri Radrodro’s statements to Parliament.

In response to a written inquiry regarding the assessment of the initial $2 million grant allocated to Pacific Polytech, Minister Radrodro explained that, similar to other institutions overseen by the Higher Education Commission of Fiji (HECF), the Polytech must submit financial acquittals for the quarterly grants received. Only after the HECF is satisfied with these acquittals can the institution be authorized to receive the next quarter’s grant.

He emphasized that audited financial statements are a compulsory requirement for all institutions. Pacific Polytech has provided audit reports for all years in which it received government funding, and these audits are clear with no concerns raised.

The HECF continuously monitors programs financed by government grants, ensuring that no institution can offer unapproved programs. All programs offered by Pacific Polytech have undergone rigorous evaluation and have received approval from the Higher Education Commission of Fiji.
