Grants and Audits: Pacific Polytech Passes Scrutiny

Pacific Polytech is required to provide detailed accounts of all government grants utilized by the institution, and the audits conducted thus far are satisfactory and raise no concerns, as stated by Minister for Education Aseri Radrodro in Parliament.

In response to a written inquiry about the assessment of the initial $2 million grant awarded to Pacific Polytech, Mr. Radrodro explained that as per standard procedure, all institutions under the Higher Education Commission of Fiji (HECF) must submit financial reports for the quarterly amounts received. He noted that the HECF will authorize the release of funds for the next quarter only once they are satisfied with the spending reports submitted by Pacific Polytech.

Mr. Radrodro emphasized that the submission of audited financial statements is mandatory. He confirmed that Pacific Polytech has submitted all audits for the years in which it received government funding, and these audits are clear, without any cause for concern.

Additionally, he mentioned that the HECF oversees the programs funded by government grants, ensuring that no institution can offer unapproved programs. All programs at Pacific Polytech have undergone rigorous evaluation and received approval from the Higher Education Commission of Fiji.
