Grants and Audits: Pacific Polytech Passes Inspection

Pacific Polytech is obligated to provide an acquittal for all government grants utilized by the institution, with audits of its accounts indicating no issues. This information was shared by the Minister for Education, Aseri Radrodro, in response to a parliamentary inquiry regarding the evaluation of the initial $2 million grant awarded to Pacific Polytech.

Mr. Radrodro stated that, as is customary for all institutions regulated by the Higher Education Commission of Fiji (HECF), Pacific Polytech must submit spending acquittals to HECF for the quarterly grants received. The release of grants for subsequent quarters is contingent upon HECF’s approval of these acquittals.

The Minister emphasized that the submission of audited financial statements is mandatory for these institutions, and Pacific Polytech has complied by submitting audits for all years it has received government funding. He affirmed that these audits are clean, indicating no grounds for concern.

Additionally, Mr. Radrodro noted that HECF actively oversees the programs funded by government grants, asserting that no institution is permitted to offer programs without the Commission’s approval. All award programs at Pacific Polytech have undergone thorough examination and received necessary approvals from the Higher Education Commission of Fiji.
