A 25-year-old man has been charged with the alleged murder of his 59-year-old grandmother in Naitonitoni, Navua, which occurred in June. Assistant Commissioner of Police – Crime (ACP) Mesake Waqa reported that the suspect was arrested on June 25, 2024, and was taken to Saint Giles Hospital for a psychiatric evaluation. He was released back into police custody on August 6, 2024. Following his questioning, legal advice was obtained from the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions, approving the murder charge. The accused is set to appear in the Navua Magistrates Court today.
