The government is dedicated to providing essential services to the public and enhancing quality of life through improvements in health, education, infrastructure such as roads, water supply, electricity, cemeteries, and agriculture. This commitment was emphasized by Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Professor Biman Prasad during his recent visit to Seaqaqa, where he met with local residents, farmers, and landowners.
Accompanying him were Employment, Productivity and Workplace Relations Minister Agni Deo Singh and other stakeholders. Farmers expressed their gratitude to the government for the assistance provided to the agriculture sector, which caters to both the sugar and non-sugar industries.
Professor Prasad also shared insights on upcoming developments, particularly the Vanua Levu Tourism Development Project. He stated that the project’s goals include bolstering targeted infrastructure and essential services, enhancing coordination and involvement of the private sector in tourism, and promoting environmental sustainability of tourism resources.
This initiative is expected to have a positive impact on local livelihoods by generating new job opportunities and boosting demand in the agriculture sector.
