Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance, Professor Biman Prasad, has been actively engaging with communities impacted by recent flooding from Sigatoka to Rakiraki. During his visit to assess the damage, he expressed solidarity with those affected by the severe weather and emphasized the government’s commitment to providing both immediate relief and long-term support.
Accompanied by local government officials, Prof Prasad toured a variety of affected areas, engaging in discussions with residents, community leaders, and emergency response personnel. He reassured residents of the government’s dedication to facilitating a swift recovery process.
“We are here to listen, support, and ensure a swift recovery,” he stated. “The Government is focused on partnering with local leaders and humanitarian organisations to deliver the necessary assistance.”
Prof Prasad also took a moment to commend the resilience demonstrated by the affected communities as well as the tireless efforts of local volunteers and relief workers. He expressed gratitude toward the National Disaster Management Office (NDMO) for their pivotal role in coordinating relief efforts and helping families navigate through this challenging period.
