“Government’s New Strategy to Combat Drug Issues Unveiled”

Eliminating drugs entirely may be impossible, but it is manageable, says Home Affairs Minister Pio Tikoduadua.

Speaking on The Lens@177, Mr. Tikoduadua remarked that this issue existed before he took office and would persist long after his tenure. He emphasized the necessity for a governmental system that prevents exploitation and ensures the government is equipped to lead the fight against drugs.

“Our main goal as Fijians is to educate and stop our people from consuming drugs,” he stated.

“That’s the only achievable outcome. We can’t halt its production in South America, North America, or Asia. We can’t monitor all boats coming through. Some will slip through.

“Even the Americans struggle to control cargo, despite their advanced technology. We have a porous ocean surrounding the island.”

Mr. Tikoduadua expressed the intent to educate Fijians to “say no to drugs, do not consume drugs.”
