The government is dedicated to enhancing services for citizens and improving overall quality of life, which encompasses health, education, infrastructure such as roads and water supply, electricity, cemetery facilities, and agriculture. Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Professor Biman Prasad emphasized this commitment during a recent North tour, where he met with stakeholders in Seaqaqa, including residents, farmers, and landowners.
Accompanying him were Employment, Productivity, and Workplace Relations Minister Agni Deo Singh and other relevant stakeholders. Farmers expressed gratitude toward the government’s various forms of support for the agriculture sector, which addresses the needs of both the sugar and non-sugar industries.
Professor Prasad also informed residents about the planned developments, particularly the Vanua Levu Tourism Development Project. He noted that the project’s goals include strengthening critical infrastructure and services, enhancing collaboration and private sector involvement in tourism, and promoting environmental sustainability of tourism resources.
These objectives are expected to significantly benefit local livelihoods by creating new job opportunities and boosting demand in the agricultural sector.
