Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka announced that the cabinet will present a document regarding the investigation or commission of inquiry into allegations made by former Deputy Commissioner of FICAC, Francis Puleiwai.

In a media briefing, Rabuka indicated that this document will outline the terms of reference and objectives for the commission members for cabinet consideration. He emphasized the importance of addressing the credibility of the government and its institutions.

Rabuka acknowledged that while the past cannot be changed, the government is committed to ensuring that past mistakes are not repeated. He stated, “If anyone has violated orders, laws, or regulations, they will be held accountable.”

When asked about Puleiwai’s claims of being threatened by government agents, the Prime Minister dismissed these allegations, asserting that such actions would not stem from his administration. He advised Puleiwai to contact the police if she feels unsafe in Fiji and assured her that she is welcome to return.

The Prime Minister also referenced the withdrawal of a report by ABC, noting concerns regarding the credibility of Puleiwai’s claims. He concluded by reassuring all Fijians that their safety is a priority.
