Gospel High School’s Rugby Dream: A Historic Semi-Final Showdown Awaits!

The Gospel High School Under-15 rugby team has been propelled by self-belief during their Vodafone Deans Trophy run. In an interview with SUNsports, GHS principal Iliesa Parker highlighted this motivation.

Recently, GHS scored a significant upset by defeating the favored Ratu Kadavulevu School with a score of 12-7 in the quarterfinals. Parker mentioned that the coaching staff has been focusing on areas for improvement as they prepare for the semi-finals. One concern is that several players are dealing with minor injuries, and the team hopes for their recovery before Saturday’s match.

Parker praised his team’s performance against RKS, noting it marks GHS’s first appearance in the Deans semi-finals across any grade, creating a historic moment for the school. He emphasized the strong support system from parents, alumni, and school management.

The principal expressed gratitude for the dedicated coaching staff and underscored the importance of discipline both academically and on the field. The players are eager to compete at the stadium for the first time and face a strong team like Marist, whom they have yet to meet this season.

“We are honored to play against Marist, the defending champions,” Parker stated. He called on GHS fans to wear the school’s colors of pink, white, and blue in support of the team. Additionally, he extended well wishes to other schools competing in the semi-finals.
