The Gospel High School Under-15 rugby team has been fueled by self-belief during their Vodafone Deans Trophy run, according to comments made by principal Iliesa Parker. In a remarkable twist, GHS pulled off a stunning victory against the favored Ratu Kadavulevu School, winning 12-7 in the quarterfinals last Saturday.

Parker mentioned that the coaching staff has identified areas for improvement as they prepare for the semi-finals. He expressed concern about a few players dealing with minor injuries, hoping they would recover by Saturday.

The principal praised his team’s outstanding performance against RKS, noting that this marks the first time GHS has reached the Deans semi-finals in any division, making it a historic achievement. He acknowledged the strong support from parents, alumni, and school management.

Further, Parker highlighted the dedication of the coaching staff and emphasized the importance of discipline both within the school and on the field. He noted that the players are excited about the prospect of playing in the stadium for the first time and are looking forward to facing a strong team like Marist, whom they have not competed against this season.

Parker expressed pride in facing Marist, the defending champions, and invited all GHS rugby supporters to wear the school’s pink, white, and blue colors to the match on Saturday. He also extended his best wishes to all other schools participating in the semi-finals.
