Google’s Game-Changer: Fiji’s Digital Future Unveiled!

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Trade Manoa Kamikamica recently met with key representatives from Google’s Sydney office to discuss the advancements in establishing multiple subsea cables to Fiji. During his address at the Fiji Tech Summit in Nadi, he highlighted that Google is also working on building a tier-three data center infrastructure in the region.

Kamikamica emphasized that this investment is crucial for enhancing connectivity within the Pacific and globally, ensuring a more resilient network than ever before. He noted the importance of fully capitalizing on this opportunity as a nation.

To effectively manage and utilize the benefits of Google’s infrastructure, an ICT taskforce has been established. This taskforce aims to coordinate efforts to maximize advantages from this significant investment. Kamikamica expressed optimism about the future, stating that if managed well, Fiji will not only be “surfing the web” but will be “riding a tidal wave of opportunity.”
