Golf Victory: A Young Star’s Journey at the Fiji Open

Isireli Digitaki, a ninth-grade student from Nabua Secondary School, expressed his gratitude for the experience he gained at the Fiji Golf Open. He participated in the junior category of the tournament held at the Fiji Golf Club in Vatuwaqa last Saturday.

“This is my first time competing in the Fiji Golf Open and I’m pleased with my scores,” Digitaki stated. He acknowledged that the pressure affected his game, leading to some poor swings.

Digitaki enjoyed playing alongside his uncles and older siblings during the tournament, and they won several prizes, including electrical appliances. “We can’t afford some of these items, but winning them for free makes us extremely proud,” he said.

He also mentioned the challenge of managing his golf bag, which caused fatigue during play. “I need to work on controlling the pressure to enhance my performance in future tournaments,” Digitaki added. He expressed his gratitude to God for giving him the strength to complete the three-day event.

Digitaki thanked Complete Insurance Services for covering his golf membership fees, stating that without their support, he wouldn’t have been able to participate. He also acknowledged Arvin Lal and Taitusi Tuivuci for their assistance in helping him and other juniors to compete in the tournament.

He expressed appreciation to the Fiji Professional Golfers Association (PGA) for sponsoring ten junior players with free entry into the tournament. “Many of us juniors wouldn’t be able to afford the entry fees,” he explained.

Finally, Digitaki conveyed his thanks to his family and teachers for their unwavering support and guidance throughout the competition.
