The reconstruction of the Great Council of Chiefs (GCC) complex, known as Vale ni Bose, is progressing well. The iTaukei Trust Fund Board announced that the first phase of the project has been successfully completed, and work on the second phase is now underway.
According to the TTFB, practical completion of the entire project is expected by mid-2025. The timeline for the construction is meticulously planned to ensure quality and safety standards are upheld. The project team is dedicated to executing Phase 2 efficiently and is focused on meeting each scheduled milestone.
Coordination among contractors, architects, and stakeholders has been effective, with continuous updates and progress evaluations to keep the project on track. The previous GCC complex was destroyed in a fire in 2020, and an insurance payout of $6 million has been allocated for the reconstruction efforts.
Phase two aims to enhance the functionality and design of the facility to fulfill its intended purpose. The trust board expressed confidence that the project’s timely completion will significantly benefit the meetings of the Great Council of Chiefs and future users of the venue.
Pacific Building Solutions will oversee the construction activities.
