Future Stars: Fiji’s Football U16 Talent Search in Full Swing!

A committed team of six is engaged in a quest to discover promising talents for the under-16 national football team during the ongoing Primary School Inter District Competitions in Labasa. The group is led by Sunil Kumar, the under-16 national coach, who emphasized their focus on evaluating players’ skills, teamwork, and overall performance.

“There is a lot of raw talent in the competition,” Kumar noted. In a recent interview, he highlighted the importance of identifying players who can handle pressure and deliver in critical moments.

“We have identified a few prospects, but consistency in their performance is essential,” he stated. Kumar expressed that their ambition is to assemble a squad that not only showcases talent but also reflects the values and spirit of Fijian football.

“I believe that with proper support and training, these young athletes can become the future backbone of Fiji football,” he added. The selected players will have the opportunity to represent the national team in trials for the under-16 FIFA World Cup.
