Young Leaders Inspire Hope for Education in Fiji

Future Leaders of Fiji: Meet the Inspiring Head Boy and Girl of Natabua High School!

Netani Kepa has made a significant mark in his family history by becoming the head boy of Natabua High School, an achievement he holds in high regard. In a recent interview, Kepa emphasized his commitment to leading with passion, integrity, and humility, as he aims to effectively serve his peers and the broader school community.

Kepa’s ambitions extend beyond his current role, as he plans to pursue marine studies at the University of the South Pacific next year, aspiring to be a marine biologist. “I’m planning to study marine science,” he expressed with enthusiasm.

Meanwhile, his counterpart, head girl Shreya Shail, shared her own vision of leadership, stating that it goes beyond authority; true leadership is about inspiring and uplifting those around you. She aims to create an inclusive environment at the school, where every student feels valued. Shail’s father, Salen Kumar, a former student of Natabua, expressed his pride in witnessing his daughter’s achievements.

The induction ceremony featured Education Minister Aseri Radrodro, who reminded the new prefects that their roles involve more than just wearing badges; they represent the school’s values and have a duty to their peers. “Set a positive example for your peers, as you are the future leaders of both the school and Fiji,” he urged.

This story reflects a broader trend among young leaders in Fiji, as similar instances of student dedication to positive change in schools are becoming increasingly common. Kepa and Shail’s leadership demonstrates a hopeful outlook for the youth’s ability to bring about meaningful advancements in their educational environments.

Their journey illustrates the transformative impact that can arise from passion and community support, providing an encouraging perspective for the future of education in Fiji. With such promising leaders emerging, there is potential for a bright future where the youth drive positive change.
