Kitione Baleloa, the recipient of the golden glove award at the Futsal IDC, has been included in Labasa’s squad for the Pacific Community Cup. The talented goalkeeper hailing from Tailevu Naitasiri, who is also a part of the Futsal champions Suva, has been brought in as a guest player. His role will be crucial as he will serve as a backup for experienced goalkeeper Simione Tamanisau.
Labasa’s coach, Ravneel Pratap, explained the decision to include Baleloa, stating that the team’s regular goalkeepers cannot participate in the tournament. Jitoko Vulava is unavailable due to work commitments and is currently attending a training course with the Fiji Police Force, while Joji Vuakaca is sidelined due to injury.
“Kitione is in good shape and has agreed to join us. We are happy to have him on board,” Pratap remarked, indicating confidence in Baleloa’s ability to contribute positively to the team’s performance.
In addition to Baleloa, Tailevu Naitasiri players Asaeli Tunidau and Sakiusa Saqiri have also joined the squad, adding depth to their lineup.
Labasa will kick off its campaign against the USA All Stars at 4:30 PM today, setting the stage for an exciting match. The inclusion of new players into the squad brings fresh energy and hope for success in the tournament.
In summary, Kitione Baleloa’s addition to the Labasa squad highlights the team’s adaptability in the face of player unavailability, marking a promising start to their Pacific Cup journey.
