Finance Minister Biman Prasad announced that $5.5 million has been set aside for dredging projects at Denarau in Nadi. During a parliamentary session this week, Prof Prasad emphasized the significance of addressing flooding and enhancing infrastructure in Denarau, highlighting its role in Fiji’s tourism economy.
“Denarau is a vital area for the tourism sector, and this initiative is part of the government’s larger strategy to reduce flooding costs and strengthen essential tourism infrastructure,” stated Prof Prasad. He added that the dredging efforts would protect Denarau’s shores, improve drainage systems, and safeguard the area’s infrastructure against rising sea levels and severe weather events.
