Fulori Waqasaqa, a 33-year-old woman from Namuaimada, Ra, is making waves with her handcrafted business based in Bulileka, Labasa. Starting her venture just last year, Fulori has recognized the immense support it has provided her and her family.
Having studied at a secondary school in Nasinu, she participated in a program focused on entrepreneurship. Despite lacking any initial dreams of business ownership, she has since developed a passion for creating her products.
Fulori skillfully produces various craft items and also sources materials from local vendors, showcasing her dedication to building a strong base for her business. This approach has elevated her profile among customers, who are increasingly placing orders for her vibrant creations.
She has observed a rise in demand, as her crafts are popular among both locals and visitors from hotels such as Koro Sun, Namela, and Tanoa. “Given that we have entered this festive month, I’m seeing a significant increase in orders, often with a rush for my products,” she explained.
Each craft item costs around $5, with Fulori aiming to expand her business significantly with seasonal demand. Her goal is to produce up to 20 items a day, which could amount to earnings of about $200 weekly. During peak seasons, she hopes to generate as much as $400 in a week.
Fulori’s success reinforces the idea that even small endeavors can provide substantial support to families and communities. She encourages aspiring entrepreneurs to harness their talents effectively to achieve self-sufficiency and contribute positively to their livelihoods under divine guidance.
