Fuel Prices Take a Tumble: What You Need to Know!

Spread the love

Fuel prices for unleaded fuel, diesel, and premix have seen a welcome drop starting today. As of the first of the month, the Kerosene price decreased from $1.79 to $1.67 per litre. Unleaded fuel now costs $2.62 per litre, down from $2.73, and diesel prices have adjusted to $2.18 per litre. Meanwhile, the price of premix has also declined from $2.55 to $2.43 per litre.

Conversely, there has been an increase in the cost of gas cylinders. A 4.5kg cylinder has risen from $14.80 to $14.97, and a 12kg cylinder will now be priced at $39.91.

Joel Abraham, CEO of the Fijian Competition and Consumer Commission, emphasized the organization’s dedication to maintaining affordability for Fijian families. He noted that these price adjustments are a response to global market fluctuations, showcasing FCCC’s commitment to protecting consumers from rising costs that affect daily life. By managing these prices effectively, the FCCC aims to ease financial burdens for households, particularly those who are more vulnerable.

This recent reduction in fuel prices can be seen as a positive development amidst increasing living costs, providing relief to many families and underscoring the importance of consumer welfare in regulatory practices.

In summary, while the drop in fuel prices helps provide some financial respite, the increase in gas cylinder prices highlights the ongoing challenges in balancing cost fluctuations in essential goods. The FCCC’s proactive approach offers hope for sustained oversight and support for consumers in Fiji.
