The prices of unleaded fuel, diesel, and premix fuel have experienced a decline effective today. Starting from the beginning of the month, the price of kerosene has decreased from $1.79 to $1.67 per liter. Unleaded fuel has also seen a reduction, going from $2.73 to $2.62 per liter. Diesel prices have been adjusted to $2.18 per liter, while premix fuel prices have fallen from $2.55 to $2.43 per liter.

On the flip side, the price of gas has risen slightly, with a 4.5 kg cylinder now costing $14.97, up from $14.80. Meanwhile, a 12 kg cylinder will be priced at $39.91.

Joel Abraham, CEO of the Fijian Competition and Consumer Commission (FCCC), has emphasized the organization’s commitment to making essentials affordable for families in Fiji. He highlighted that these recent adjustments reflect the FCCC’s efforts to protect consumers from the volatility of global market conditions.

Abraham acknowledged the burden that rising costs place on daily life and reaffirmed the FCCC’s mission to monitor and regulate prices to ensure that vital commodities like fuel remain accessible, particularly for the most vulnerable segments of the population. He stressed that by stabilizing prices, they are not only aiding household budgets but also upholding consumer rights and promoting fair market behavior.

This price drop in fuel is a positive development for many families, providing some relief from the high cost of living that has been experienced in recent times. It underscores a commitment to consumer care, demonstrating that agencies are responsive to the financial pressures faced by citizens.

In summary, while some gas prices have increased, the overall decrease in fuel prices aims to ease financial burdens on households, showcasing a proactive approach to consumer welfare.
