The Fijian Teachers Association (FTA) is currently waiting for the final valuation report for the construction of a $23 million building expected to be completed by the end of this year. This new structure will serve as an extension of the FTA’s headquarters located in Suva.
FTA general secretary Paula Manumanunitoga stated that they have contracted local engineer and architect Ulaiasi Baivatu, who has prepared initial ground plans for the new building. Additionally, property valuation expert Keni Dakuidreketi has been engaged for the valuation work.
“We are now looking forward to receiving the final valuation report from Mr. Dakuidreketi regarding the new building’s worth,” Mr. Manumanunitoga explained. He noted that Dakuidreketi has verbally indicated that the building’s value would likely exceed $23,000.
Mr. Manumanunitoga shared that conversations with various banks have been positive, with three commercial banks showing interest in financing the project. He expressed optimism that the FTA would secure the necessary funds for construction through bank loans. Among the interested banks are BSP, HFC, Merchant Bank, Westpac Bank, and potentially the Bank of Baroda.
