Private Anthony Pesamino’s aspirations of becoming a veterinarian took an unexpected turn when he discovered that Fiji National University had discontinued its veterinary program. This setback left him feeling disheartened and at a crossroads in life. Rather than giving up, he made the bold decision to apply for a role in the military.

Reflecting on this significant change, Pesamino shared, “It was a real change for me.” Although he initially lacked experience, he did not let that deter him. Through sheer perseverance and determination, he succeeded in completing 18 months of demanding military training at the FTG in Nasinu.

Graduating from training, Private Pesamino noted how this experience has fundamentally transformed his perspective. He emphasized the lessons of discipline learned during training as a pivotal change in his life, stating, “I’ve gained valuable skills, from solving critical issues to engaging with local communities.”
