Vika Nakacia’s journey as a determined athlete is truly inspiring. Hailing from Yasawa, she has faced financial challenges that made attending training sessions difficult, often lacking the fare for transportation. However, rather than allowing these obstacles to deter her, Nakacia chose to walk and run to Nadovu Grounds for her practices from her home in Kashmir.
Reflecting on her experiences, Nakacia shared, “Sometimes it is also difficult especially for us women players, because we hear a lot of negative talk. It is hard when you try to play the sport you love and you are discouraged.” Despite the challenges, her resilience has led her to great achievements in rugby league, as she has also represented Yasawa in rugby union, showcasing her versatility and commitment to the sport.
Looking ahead, Nakacia is preparing to represent Fiji at the Dubai 7s, with hopes of making her country proud. “I am really hopeful to do my best,” she stated, radiating optimism about her future in athletics.
