Abdul Zorhab’s early financial challenges inspired him to establish a non-profit organization aimed at aiding the poor and disadvantaged in the Western Division. Driven by the teachings of his late grandmother, Sabra Khatoon, Zorhab founded the One Nation Our People Youth Foundation to carry forward her legacy of generosity and compassion, which influenced his belief in the importance of kindness as a transformative force.
In 2021, Zorhab partnered with former college friends and colleagues to launch the NGO, driven by a shared desire to give back to the community. Their journey began with small-scale community initiatives, which gained traction as they demonstrated the positive difference they could make, inspiring more individuals to join their cause.
What sets the One Nation Our People Youth Foundation apart is its commitment to not only providing immediate relief but also implementing long-term solutions to uplift communities. For instance, the foundation empowers individuals through sustainable income sources, such as backyard gardening, which helps them become self-sufficient over time. Their projects encompass a range of initiatives, including climate change programs, feeding the homeless, caring for stray animals, and promoting mental health awareness among the youth.
Despite facing numerous challenges, including financial difficulties and personal sacrifices, Zorhab persevered. He often took on the costs himself when donors pulled out, and his dedication led him to forgo time with his family, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic, to support those affected by isolation.
Looking ahead, Zorhab aims to complete his education and expand his community work while aspiring to enter Parliament to advocate for the vulnerable and promote sustainable development on a national level. He encourages young people to believe in their potential to effect change, regardless of the scale of their platform, and emphasizes the importance of empathy and community service.
In a world needing compassion and support, Zorhab’s story illustrates that individual action, bolstered by collective effort, can indeed create significant change. His perspective reinforces the idea that every small effort matters and contributes to building a better society.
This narrative serves as an inspiring reminder that even in challenging times, dedication and a strong sense of community can pave the way for positive outcomes.
