Joana Adimila, a dedicated stay-at-home mother, has bravely pursued her educational goals despite her circumstances. Over the course of 12 weeks with the Australia Pacific Training Coalition (APTC), she fully engaged in learning after spending more than a decade away from formal education.
Ms. Adimila’s primary source of income has been her jewellery business. Nonetheless, she continually sought new opportunities amid ongoing challenges. “Returning to the classroom after so many years at home was refreshing,” she shared. “I’m thankful for the opportunities APTC gave me, enabling me to explore new potential avenues.”
On Wednesday, she proudly graduated with a Certificate II in Engineering Pathways, focusing on welding and fabrication. While acknowledging the challenges of entering a male-dominated industry, she emphasized the importance of having more women in engineering fields.
Adimila is aware that shifting from running her small business to exploring diverse career paths is a significant endeavor. “I am equipped with my newly acquired knowledge because I aspire to create a better future,” she stated.
