From Schoolboy to Bati: Jordan Miller’s Dream Come True in Rugby League

Nineteen-year-old Jordan Miller, who visited Fiji with the Australian schoolboys in 2022, has recently made his return with the Vodafone Fiji Bati team, marking a significant milestone in his rugby league career.

Born and raised in Australia to a father from Savusavu, Miller expressed his excitement about training alongside Bati senior players, including NRL stars such as Tui Kamikamica, Maika Sivo, and Viliame Kikau—players he has long admired. He credited coach Waisake Kativerata for the opportunity to debut for the Bati, starting from the bench.

“I’ve always wanted to play for Fiji,” he shared, noting how surreal it feels to train with accomplished players at such a young age. “I didn’t think it would come this early, but I’m grateful for the opportunity to come here. It means a lot.”

Miller also reflected on the team culture over the past week, commenting on the positive atmosphere created by daily devotionals and high energy levels within the camp.

This year, Miller secured a three-year contract with the Tigers and made his NRL debut in Round 15 against the Titans, contributing to the team’s 18-10 victory. He was honored with the player’s player award and named the best and fairest player at the Wests Magpies Harold Matthews Cup U17s during their Junior Representative Award night in September 2022.
