Nineteen-year-old Jordan Miller is making headlines as he joins the Vodafone Fiji Bati team, a remarkable turn of events since his visit to Fiji with the Australian schoolboys in 2022. This experience marks a significant milestone in his rugby league journey.
Miller, who was raised in Australia, has roots in Savusavu through his father. He expresses excitement at the opportunity to train alongside senior and NRL players he admired growing up, including Tui Kamikamica, Maika Sivo, and Viliame Kikau.
He credits coach Waisake Kativerata for the opportunity that led to his debut for the Bati, starting from the bench. “I’ve always wanted to play for Fiji,” he stated, sharing his disbelief at being in camp with such accomplished athletes. “It’s pretty crazy that I’m training with them. I didn’t think it would come this early, but I’m grateful for the opportunity.”
Miller emphasized the positive team culture he has experienced during the camp, which includes twice-daily devotion sessions and a vibrant atmosphere.
Earlier this year, Miller signed a three-year contract with the Tigers and debuted in the NRL in Round 15 against the Titans, where his team won 18-10. His talent was recognized in September 2022 when he received the player’s player and best and fairest awards for the Wests Magpies Harold Matthews Cup U17s during their Junior Representative Award night.
