From Rock Bottom to Triumph: A Journey of Faith and Resilience

Atelaite Rokosuka, a dedicated civil servant, experienced a transformative moment after reaching a low point in her life. After recently earning a Master of Commerce in Management and Public Administration from the University of the South Pacific, Mrs. Rokosuka expressed that her journey has been guided by her belief that “God is the perfect planner.”

The graduation ceremony highlighted the achievements of many women from varied backgrounds, but for Mrs. Rokosuka, her faith was a vital source of strength during her numerous challenges. Balancing family life with her studies in 2018 proved to be a significant undertaking. She described her decision to start her master’s program as courageous, especially while managing a demanding government job.

“The struggle to find time for my studies was relentless, but with determination and the backing of my family, I was able to push through,” she shared. Even during the toughest times, including a brief layoff from her position as Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Fisheries and Forestry, she did not waver in her commitment to education. Instead, she saw this adversity as an opportunity to enhance her skills and complete her degree.

Although there were moments when she felt like giving up, her faith in Jesus Christ motivated her to keep going and pursue personal growth. “Giving up wasn’t an option for me because I knew I still had a lot to accomplish in the future, not only for myself but to also share my knowledge with others,” she stated.

Mrs. Rokosuka has successfully built a remarkable career over the past 27 years while also raising six children, with the support of her husband, and enjoys spending time with her grandchildren. She is a strong advocate for encouraging other women to achieve their educational and professional goals, believing that such support can create a positive impact and help dismantle barriers.
