From Motherhood to Mastery: A Graduation Journey of Dreams

Maria Adimainatuvu celebrated a significant milestone at the University of the South Pacific graduation, marking her return to academia after taking a four-year hiatus to care for her two children. She received her Bachelor of Commerce in Tourism and Hospitality Management, bringing her closer to her aspiration of working in the tourism sector.

Expressing her feelings, Ms. Adimainatuvu said, “Completing this degree has significantly boosted my self-esteem and given me a profound sense of accomplishment.” She acknowledged the challenges of balancing family responsibilities with her educational goals, but emphasized that the journey was rewarding despite the difficulties.

Ms. Adimainatuvu faced several setbacks, yet she remained determined to create a better future for her children. She believes that her success serves as a strong example for her kids regarding the value of education, perseverance, and personal growth.

Through her experience of returning to school while managing family duties, she enhanced her problem-solving abilities and adaptability. With a strong foundation in family values, Ms. Adimainatuvu takes pride in fostering a supportive home environment.

Originally hailing from Kaba Village in Tailevu, the 27-year-old feels empowered by the support from her peers, friends, and family. She remains optimistic about her future, stating, “Nothing is impossible; this is not going to be my last graduation. I am going to pursue the next level.”
