From Motherhood to Graduation: One Woman’s Inspirational Journey

After a four-year hiatus for motherhood, Maria Adimainatuvu celebrated a significant milestone at the University of the South Pacific’s graduation ceremony yesterday.

Filled with pride, Ms. Adimainatuvu obtained her Bachelor of Commerce degree in Tourism and Hospitality Management, marking the beginning of her aspirations to enter the tourism sector.

“Completing this degree has greatly enhanced my self-esteem and provided me with a deep sense of achievement,” she expressed.

She acknowledged the challenges of stepping away from her studies to focus on her family but emphasized the rewarding nature of her experience. “Despite the many setbacks, I persisted in my efforts to create a better future for my children,” she said.

Ms. Adimainatuvu believes her success sets a valuable example for her children about the significance of education, tenacity, and personal growth.

Balancing the demands of academics and family life has helped her develop stronger problem-solving abilities and adaptability.

With a strong foundation in family values, she has cultivated a sense of pride and respect within her household, promoting a nurturing environment.

At 27 and hailing from Kaba Village in Tailevu, she reflects on the unwavering support from peers, friends, and family, reaffirming her belief that greater achievements lie ahead.

“Nothing is impossible; this isn’t my last graduation. I plan to pursue further education,” Ms. Adimainatuvu asserted.
