After a four-year hiatus to care for her two children, Maria Adimainatuvu celebrated a significant milestone at the University of the South Pacific graduation yesterday. With great pride, she received her Bachelor of Commerce in Tourism and Hospitality Management, marking the beginning of her aspirations in the tourism sector.
“My degree has greatly enhanced my self-esteem and provided me with a deep sense of accomplishment,” Ms. Adimainatuvu stated. She acknowledged the challenges of balancing family responsibilities with her academic pursuits, but emphasized the rewarding experience it has been.
“Although there were many obstacles, I remained determined to create a better future for my children,” she added. Ms. Adimainatuvu sees her achievement as a strong example for her children, emphasizing the value of education, perseverance, and the pursuit of personal growth.
Returning to school while managing family duties has honed her problem-solving abilities and adaptability. Deeply connected to her family values, she now feels an increased sense of pride and respect, contributing to a nurturing home environment.
At 27, and hailing from Kaba Village in Tailevu, she believes that with the support of her peers, friends, and family, there are no limits to what she can achieve. “Nothing is impossible; this will not be my last graduation. I plan to pursue further studies,” she declared.
