Nilesh Karan, the senior loan officer at the Sugar Cane Growers Fund (SCGF), has made the significant career switch to pursue law. At 47, he recently graduated with a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from the University of Fiji, a milestone achieved after seven years of balancing his studies with work and family life.

Karan’s journey into the legal field is supported by his extensive experience in civil and litigation matters, having previously worked in various law firms in Ba, Lautoka, and Nadi, as well as the Housing Authority. Prior to his role at SCGF, he served as a senior credit officer with Carpenter Finance in Lautoka, where he worked for a total of 19 years.

Reflecting on his journey, Mr. Karan emphasized the importance of time management and strategic planning to succeed in his various commitments. He faced challenges, especially during intense periods like exams, but succeeded through careful scheduling and the unwavering support of his family and friends.
