Abdul Imraz, a 23-year-old from Visama near Nausori town, never envisioned himself as a barber. Growing up, he aspired to work in the Information Technology (IT) sector. However, fate took a different turn, leading him to a career that tapped into his creative abilities.

After completing his primary education at Makoi Muslim Primary School and secondary education at Nasinu Muslim College, Imraz realized that pursuing IT studies was not feasible. Like many young adults, he faced challenges while exploring career options and decided to explore hairdressing instead. He discovered a natural talent for creativity and artistry.

With his outgoing personality, Imraz secured a position at Super Fade Cut on Victoria Parade in Suva. “I love my work,” he shared, reflecting on his initial dream of entering the IT field. “Due to some issues, I couldn’t pursue my education in that area, so I turned to barbering and salon services, which piqued my interest. I dedicated myself to learn various hairstyles.”

Starting at a small barber shop in Nausori, Imraz focused on mastering the craft. He is grateful to his former employer at Wananavu Barber Shop, who guided him as he began his journey in barbering. “I had no skills when I started, but now I can create any hairstyle my customers desire,” he noted.

His move to a shop in Suva was motivated by the desire for a professional environment that provided modern haircuts, quality products, and a good learning atmosphere, all of which he found at Super Fade Cut. Since joining the team, he has grown tremendously. “In the past four years, I’ve learned a lot, and I’m committed to my current position.”

Beyond barbering, Imraz values leisure activities to relieve the demands of his job. He enjoys playing soccer, exercising, and watching movies, believing that hobbies enhance mood and resilience.

He emphasizes the importance of hard work, passion, and determination, advising young people to pursue education but also to embrace their innate talents if formal opportunities don’t work out. “My message to young school leavers is to not lose hope! Amazing things can happen if you’re willing to learn and dedicate yourself to your work.”
