From Hardship to Hope: A Young Woman’s Inspiring Journey

Sohana Sital Chand, a 19-year-old from Nabua, has turned her past struggles into a successful future, exemplifying resilience and determination. Despite facing significant hardships growing up in a broken family, she found solace and support at Homes of Hope, a local organization dedicated to aiding young mothers and their children.

Recently, Chand achieved a significant milestone by graduating with a Certificate III in Tourism Hospitality from ServicePro International Tourism Hospitality Institute in Nasinu. She emphasized the empowering role of women and noted that her studies have not only enhanced her skills but also helped her approach traditional roles more professionally.

Chand’s journey at Homes of Hope played a crucial part in her transformation. In 2020, she received sponsorship to pursue her studies in the tourism sector, granting her a second chance at life. Reflecting on her journey, she stated, “I am one of those who believe in consistently improving my character when I go astray from the path.”

Balancing household responsibilities while attending school was particularly challenging for Chand. She managed to complete her house chores before giving her full attention to class, only to return home to her responsibilities as a wife, often sacrificing sleep to study.

Now that her studies are complete, Chand looks forward to the future, encouraging others facing difficulties to find happiness and authenticity in their lives. “We only live once, and the best thing to do is to be happy and not do things to impress others because you can never make everyone happy,” she shared. “Life is vague; don’t over-think. It is best to be you and make some people unhappy than to be someone else and live in misery.”
