Rowena Acraman has demonstrated remarkable resilience after the loss of her grandmother earlier this year. The former radio journalist, who has a passion for human rights and climate change, is one of nine contestants in the Miss Hibiscus Festival 2024. Sponsored by Miss APCO Coatings, Ms. Acraman described her three years of study as challenging, but with the help of her friends, she successfully navigated numerous obstacles.
“Pursuing both journalism and psychology was no easy feat for me personally,” Ms. Acraman reflected. She emphasized that enduring difficulties at home was a testament to her strength. “Hard work and sleepless nights have truly paid off,” she added.
This week has been an extraordinary experience for her as she competes for the crown at the festival, which she describes as magical despite her mixed emotions. In addition to her academic pursuits, Ms. Acraman is also a talented artist, singer, and musician, proficient in playing the guitar and ukulele. She aims to work for a non-governmental organization focused on human rights and climate change.
While balancing work and studies posed its challenges, she successfully maintained a stable income while pursuing her degree.
