Michael Joe has made a notable return to the business scene. Transitioning from a farmer and grocer to a landlord and now a property developer, he held a groundbreaking ceremony for a $6 million project in the capital yesterday. This development follows the closure of his well-known supermarket, Joe’s Farm.
During the event in Samabula, Tui Suva, Sanaila Madanavosa, praised the entrepreneurial spirit behind the initiative. The first of several Joe’s Farm buildings is currently under construction on Ratu Mara Road, with an anticipated completion date set for December of next year.
Michael Joe is recognized for his ability to reinvent his business strategies. A seasoned entrepreneur, he holds multiple roles including farmer, golfer, exporter, grocer, business consultant, and investor. He shared that a joint venture has been established with Cibus New Zealand to export locally grown produce from various farms throughout the country and is also collaborating with the government to arrange contracts for farmers.
One of his recent business initiatives is set to yield results this month with the export of coconuts and dalo from Rotuma. “A truck will make rounds across the island to gather these products for export, marking a first for Rotuma,” he stated. “We have our inaugural shipment heading to New Zealand.”
Mr. Joe attributes his success to a guiding principle: Fear the Lord.
