Reshma Singh has carved an impressive journey from modest beginnings to the world of luxury diamonds. Born in Nawaicoba, Nadi, she is the eldest of five siblings and exemplifies success grounded in hard work, loyalty, and commitment.

Reflecting on her early life, Ms. Singh shared, “I’m a daughter of a farmer; my dad’s main crop was sugarcane, while my mum handled domestic duties.” She completed her education at Nawaicoba Public School and Sri Vivekananda High School. However, her academic progress faced a significant setback in 1987 due to the country’s first military coup.

Ms. Singh described that tumultuous period: “It was a very troubling time for me and my family… I remember our community; we were told to just stay inside that night. The memories from that time troubled me as a child.” With determination, her grandfather advocated for her education, allowing her to resume her studies and complete Form 6.

After her schooling, she initially worked on the family farm until an uncle recognized her potential and helped her join Tappoos as a stock coordinator. After three years, she moved to Prouds, where she started in a junior role but swiftly climbed the ranks due to her dedication.

“I began as a stock coordinator and was later promoted to an executive buyer. In 2000, I became a retail manager, a position I held for 23 years, until I was promoted to general manager late last year,” Ms. Singh noted. She has been with Prouds for 32 years and considers herself successful within the company.

Ms. Singh credits her success to the experiences and challenges she faced throughout her career. While she occasionally contemplates pursuing further education, she firmly believes that her achievements arise from a strong work ethic and practical knowledge gained over the years.

In addition to her professional accomplishments, she is also a devoted mother to her 29-year-old son, a lawyer at Munro Leys, whom she describes as “my heart.” She advocates for kindness and compassion, values she applies to her personal life and interactions with colleagues and customers at Prouds.

For the younger generation, Ms. Singh offers straightforward advice: “If you work hard, you’re going to succeed.” She expresses her commitment to Prouds, stating, “As long as I’m happy, I will work for Prouds.” She likens her personal growth to diamonds, saying, “The more I’m cut, carved, and polished, the more I shine.”
