Ana Yabakivou, an 18-year-old who had faced academic hurdles, has triumphantly graduated with a Certificate IV in Organic Agriculture from the Ministry of Youth’s Naleba Training Centre in Labasa. Despite failing the Fiji Year 12 Certificate Examination (FY12CE) the previous year, Ana showcased resilience and determination, joining 33 fellow graduates at the ceremony.

Looking ahead, she plans to attend the Fiji National University (FNU) Koronivia campus or the University of the South Pacific to deepen her knowledge in agriculture. Ana expressed her unwavering confidence in finding a job and her desire to support her family financially. Her simple yet profound dream is centered on providing for her loved ones.

Adding to the emotional significance of the event, Ana invited her grandmother, Anasimeci Solokai, 67, to witness her achievements. Overjoyed and in tears, Ms. Solokai praised her granddaughter’s journey, emphasizing that family support coupled with determination can pave the way for success.

Despite the challenges of living away from home in the centre’s girls’ dormitory, where she initially struggled with the absence of her family, Ana persevered. She encouraged her peers who might feel discouraged to remain hopeful and persistent, as numerous opportunities await those willing to work hard.

Ana’s story exemplifies the power of perseverance and the positive impact of familial support. Her message serves as an inspiration to others facing similar challenges, reinforcing the belief that determination can lead to achievement.

This narrative about Ana serves as a reminder that setbacks do not define us; instead, resilience and support can turn dreams into reality.
