Businessman Taniela Rararua advocates that achieving success does not solely require traditional academic qualifications. His inspiring message is directed towards high school dropouts and young individuals searching for their place in society. Taniela emphasizes that each person possesses unique skills and talents bestowed by God, which, if harnessed with self-discipline, can benefit both themselves and others.
Originating from Rakiraki in Kadavu, Taniela is a self-made entrepreneur specializing in coffin design and manufacturing. Operating his business from home in Kalokolevu Village, Rewa, along the busy Queen’s Highway, Taniela’s journey to success has been challenging. Raised in a single-parent household, he faced significant obstacles after his father left when he was in Year 14. With his mother unemployed and the cost of education high, Taniela made the difficult decision to drop out of school. He took on various jobs, including collecting shellfish to support his family.
After a difficult period, Taniela was granted an opportunity to further his education at Montfort Boys Town, a vocational training institute. This experience taught him vital lessons about time management, skills development, and self-discipline—principles that laid the foundation for his future business endeavors.
Following his graduation, he worked for a furniture company before transitioning to the Fiji Corrections Service, where he oversaw carpentry training for inmates. In this role, he discovered his interest in entrepreneurship and envisioned starting his coffin manufacturing business. After ten years with the corrections service and nine years as a security guard, he began constructing coffins using hand tools. His initial efforts proved successful, and over time, he reinvested in his business to improve quality and efficiency.
Taniela’s enterprise has grown significantly, leading to the purchase of vehicles for funeral transport and formal registration of his business in 2018. His focus on providing quality and affordable services reflects his understanding of the emotional and financial aspects of organizing funerals. He also aims to instill his knowledge and skills in his children, preparing them to take over the family business.
Taniela’s story is a testament to resilience and the power of faith, as he encourages young people to pursue their passions and surrender their goals to God. He believes that with divine guidance, anyone can attain success in their life journey.
In conclusion, Taniela Rararua’s journey exemplifies the idea that success can be achieved through persistence, creativity, and faith, illuminating a path for others to follow in their quest for fulfillment and purpose.
