Fulori Waqasaqa, a 33-year-old entrepreneur from Namuaimada, Ra, has made significant strides in her handcrafted product business based in Bulileka, Labasa. Having just started her business last year, she has seen tremendous support that has not only benefited her but also her family.
Fulori gained insights into entrepreneurship while attending a secondary school program in Nasinu, which inspired her to explore business opportunities despite initially not envisioning herself as a business owner. Now, she is eager to expand her skills and knowledge to better manage her business and ensure its growth.
She initially began by creating handicraft items like masi and sells them in local markets. There’s a notable demand for her colorful handcrafted products. Currently, her business is thriving, primarily because she attends several local events where she receives substantial orders from schools and various community organizations.
Fulori mentioned that the increase in orders has been especially noticeable this month, coinciding with local celebrations, leading to a busier schedule. Her products are competitively priced at around $5 each, and she’s aiming to increase her output significantly, producing up to 20 items in a day. On a busy week, particularly if she participates in large events, she could potentially earn around $400.
Through her small business, Fulori emphasizes the importance of creativity and hard work, encouraging others in her community to harness their skills to improve their livelihoods. She believes that everyone has the potential to grow and succeed through dedication and a faithful approach to life’s opportunities.
This inspiring story highlights not only Fulori’s entrepreneurial spirit but also serves as a beacon of hope for others in her community to pursue their dreams and contribute positively to their families and society. With continued support and hard work, there is a bright future ahead for her and many aspiring entrepreneurs in similar circumstances.
