Inoke Yanuyanutawa faced overwhelming financial difficulties that led him to make a regrettable choice to use drugs. The young man from Tailevu is currently undergoing rehabilitation at the Adult and Teen Challenge in Fiji.
Reflecting on his experience, Yanuyanutawa shared that he felt isolated and resorted to drugs as a means of survival while living on the streets. He cautioned that this path does not just involve substance abuse; it often leads individuals into a life of crime, resulting in destruction both personally and socially.
As his life spiraled due to excessive drug use, Yanuyanutawa found himself on the brink of imprisonment at a young age. However, he managed to steer clear of a return to criminal activities, focusing instead on overcoming his struggles with drugs and illegal dealings.
His message to the youth is inspiring: it’s never too late to turn one’s life around and find redemption. He expressed that living without purpose felt like a repetitive cycle until he realized that he had the power to change his path.
Encouraging others to seek a better life, Yanuyanutawa stated, “Christ is the way, and he will always be the way.” He emphasized that there is always time for transformation, as negative influences often attempt to mislead individuals into believing that a life of addiction is the only option.
Yanuyanutawa’s journey from despair to hope serves as a powerful reminder that change is possible and that there is a brighter future awaiting those who seek it.
This article underscores the potential for recovery and the importance of faith and support systems in overcoming addiction. It serves as a positive model for others facing similar challenges, reinforcing that it’s never too late to reclaim one’s life.
