Waisale Taufa Tavatuilagi has overcome significant challenges, including a battle with depression, to achieve his educational goals. After recently graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management and Finance from the University of the South Pacific, Mr. Tavatuilagi expressed that earning his degree was a long-cherished dream.
Ten years ago, he had aspirations of becoming a lawyer, but when that path did not materialize, he shifted his focus toward becoming a bank officer and engaging with the USP alumni network. This focus led to the attainment of his long-awaited goal.
Mr. Tavatuilagi emphasized the importance of cultivating a positive mindset, stating that associating with supportive, quality individuals was pivotal in his recovery and success. He credited his family’s unwavering support as a crucial element of his journey.
Born in Nabouciwa, Nakelo, Tailevu, with ties to Nasaqalau, Lakeba in Lau, the 33-year-old is committed to being the best version of himself whenever opportunities arise. He acknowledged that depression was one of the toughest obstacles he faced while pursuing his degree.
He expressed gratitude for the encouragement of his peers, who believed in him and motivated him to persevere through numerous struggles and failures. Mr. Tavatuilagi also highlighted the significant role his faith and the support of his family and friends played in his journey.
