Roneel Ritesh Ram, a 36-year-old entrepreneur, is living his dream in the bakery sector. Two years ago, he embarked on this journey with the goal of creating a successful future for his children. The inspiration for his bakery came after he experienced the loss of his mother when he was just five years old.
Based in Lautoka, Ram operates La Panaderia & Cafe in the Field 40 Subdivision. His journey into baking began with an apprenticeship at Lums Hot Bread in Sigatoka, starting in 2008. Over the years, he gained valuable experience working in various bakeries, including Deans Tabraki, Bread Box, Bake Rite, Wananavu Bakery, and New World IGA Lautoka.
“I had this dream for a long time: to have my own business rather than work for someone else,” Ram shared. He initiated this bakery not only as a business venture but also as a heartfelt birthday gift for his daughter, driven by a desire for his children to lead easier lives than he did while growing up.
With an investment of $25,000, which he saved from his previous jobs, Ram started this family-run bakery. He mentioned that he does not currently employ anyone, as his family collaboratively runs the business.
Despite facing challenges, such as a robbery and disruptions caused by newcomers in the area, Ram remains optimistic and dedicated. He is also a passionate supporter of local football. He attended Naidovi Primary School before moving on to Cuvu College and married Arishma Prasad in 2017; together, they have two children.
Ram firmly believes that hard work is irreplaceable, a testament to his resilience and commitment to achieving his dreams.
This story serves as a reminder of the power of perseverance and the impact of following one’s passion. Ram’s journey exemplifies how personal struggles can lead to significant achievements and the creation of a legacy for future generations.
