Michael Prasad, a former high jumper and avid basketball player from the suburbs of Suva, has embarked on a new journey as the owner of Evolve Fitness Gym. After leaving his job at the Bank South Pacific (BSP) in 2019, Prasad sought to turn his passion for fitness into a career. With support from his wife, Courtney Cheer, and their two sons, he has recently opened his gym on Raojibhai Patel Street in Suva.
Prasad’s fitness journey began at Metro Gym, where he assisted individuals in their training. Identifying a need for a more exclusive and personal training environment, he initially set up a small studio, which he successfully managed for four years. This experience fueled his desire to create a larger and more centrally located gym that would cater to the preferences of his clients, who were looking for convenience and focused training.
Evolve Fitness Gym offers a more intimate experience, accommodating small groups of up to eight people for fitness classes. This approach allows for personalized attention, which Prasad believes is beneficial for clients. The gym is equipped with specialized equipment, including a belt squat, hip thrust, and a pendulum squat machine, which sets it apart from other gyms in the area.
Looking ahead, Prasad hopes to expand his offerings with additional classes catering to various fitness levels, including mindfulness-based programs like yoga. He has designed membership packages that provide flexibility with pricing, including options for three-month and twelve-month memberships.
Prasad’s philosophy revolves around the concept of enjoying life while maintaining a healthy lifestyle. His gym promotes a balanced approach to fitness, encouraging individuals to indulge in their favorite foods and drinks while remaining committed to their workouts. With his mantra “live your fullest,” he aims to create a supportive community where fitness is integrated into daily living without excessive restriction.
The establishment of Evolve Fitness Gym not only marks a significant milestone for Prasad but also brings a fresh perspective to the fitness scene in Fiji, aiming to foster a community centered around health, well-being, and enjoyment.
This positive narrative reflects the entrepreneurial spirit thriving in our communities, where individuals like Prasad are taking bold steps to pursue their passions and contribute to healthier lifestyles for others. With Evolve Fitness Gym, there is hope for many to find not just a place to work out, but also a supportive community that understands and prioritizes holistic well-being.
